History

JCCI is an economic organization composed of Japanese companies with bases in the northern region of Vietnam. In order to improve the business environment of Japanese-affiliated companies, the opinions of member companies are compiled and negotiations with the Vietnamese government are ongoing.
  • Year 1992
  • December:Under cooperation of Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, Association was established with the name "The Japan Chamber of Commerce&Industry in Hanoi". Number of members is 26 companies.

  • Year 1996
  • April:Establishment of Japanese School of Hanoi in Vietnam, based inside campus of Hanoi University of Communications and Transport, with 5 teachers and 13 students.

  • April:Publishing the first issue of Hoan Kiem Journal, the official newspaper of Association (number of members is 92 companies)

  • Year 1997
  • July:Name changed to "Japan Business Club in Hanoi". Number of members is 120 companies.

  • Year 1998
  • In whole year:Participating in activities of “25-year establishment of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic relationship” Anniversary.

  • April:Establishment of Supporting Group with name “Hanoi Japanese Women’s Club”.

  • September:Vietnamese Government officially granted permission for establishment of "The Japan Business Association in Vietnam".

  • Year 1999
  • September:First time participating in Vietnam – Japan working group on improvement of -investment – business environment.

  • Year 2000
  • November:Second time participating in Vietnam – Japan working group on improvement of -investment – business environment.

  • Year 2001
  • November:Coordinating with Japan Business Federation in development of scholarship program. (Number of members is 122 companies)

  • Year 2002
  • In whole year:Formulation of Vietnam – Japan Joint Initiative Program.

  • Year 2003
  • In whole year:Participating in activities of “30-year establishment of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic relations” Anniversary.

  • July:First time holding factories visit program for pupils of neighbor primary schools. (This program is still continuing)

  • Year 2004
  • November:Vietnam – Japan Investment Convention in effect. Participating in Vietnam – Japan Joint Initiative Program Evaluation and Facilitation Committee.

  • Year 2005
  • November:100 year anniversary of Dong-Du Movement. (Number of members is 187 companies)

  • Year 2006
  • May: Marked number of members is over 200. (Number of members is 204 companies).

  • Year 2008
  • In whole year:Participating in activities of “35-year establishment of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic relations” Anniversary.

  • June:Marked number of 300 members, admission of the member No.301.

  • Year 2011
  • January:Marked number of members is over 400 members. (Number of members is 402 companies)

  • Year 2013
  • January:Marked number of members is over 500 companies. (Number of members is 504 companies)

  • March:Participating in opening ceremony of 40-year Vietnam-Japan Friendship.

  • Year 2015
  • March:Marked number of members is over 600 companies. (Number of members is 602 companies)

  • April:Establishment of Hai Phong Branch and Life & Culture Department.
